Letter regarding SATC academic records, dated Oct. 18, 1918
This is a typed page with a printed letterhead in the center reading 'War Department Committee on Education and Special Training' and is dated 'October 18, 1918'. It is addressed to 'Presidents of SATC institutions, Collegiate Section' and is from 'Committee on Education and Special Training by R. C. Maclaurin[,] Educational Director, Collegiate Section'. The body of the letter primarily addresses the academic nature of the Corps and provides the guidelines for keeping academic records for Corps members.

Instructions regarding SATC uniforms and equipment
This is a typed page titled, 'IS. Uniforms and Equipment' and has section labels on the left-hand side of the page. The first section is 'Uniforms' and lists the required uniform for members of SATC units. The next section is 'Arms and Equipment' and reads, 'b. The number and kinds of arms and equipment to be issued will in general conform to those prescribed in Orders and Equipment Manual for the Regular Army.' The next section is 'Use of government property' and states that Government-issued uniforms may only be used by SATC unit members at the institution to which the uniforms were issued. The last section is 'Issue of Government Property'.

Letter announcing plan for SATC, dated Aug. 20, 1918
This is a two-page typed letter on paper with a Howard Bond watermark. On the first page, 'American Council on Education Students' War Service Campaign' is typed in the upper center. It is dated 'August 20, 1918' and is from 'Robt. L. Kelly Campaign Director'. The body of this letter announces the inclusion of the War Department's official statement approving the revised plan for the Students' Army Training Corps. On the second page, the letter is dated 'Washington, D. C. August 20, 1918' and is signed 'Ralph Barton Perry, Executive Secretary, Committee on Education and Special Training.' The body of this letter announces that 'General Peyton C. March, Chief of Staff, today approved, by order of the Secretary of War, a plan for the organization of a Student Army Training Corps in the educational institutions for the country to train men as officers and technical experts in the army. The plan for the Student Army Training Corps, as altered to conform to the plans of the War Department for lowering the draft age, will utilize the plant, equipment, and organization of the colleges to maintain a reservoir of officer material for training, from which it will be possible to meet the enlarged needs of the various branches of service'. It also discusses the differences between the tracks for the SATC. On the back of the second page, 'SATC' is written in pencil and underlined.

At the top of the page is 'SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY' and below that is 'Monthly Report Students' Army Training Corps' and then 'Reported by' with 'F. C. A. Lehmberg' written in and then 'Term: Fall...Month of: October'. The page is divided into three columns, the first is 'Last name...Other names,' the next is 'Course and Number,' and the third is 'Numerical Grade'.
